Dr. Mercola Recommends EFT

The Ultimate Stress-Buster that I Believe Belongs in Everyone's Self-Help Arsenal. There are many techniques to choose from to help quiet your stress response and regain a healthy balance of brain chemicals. Qigong, meditation, and yoga are three very popular techniques that help many individuals maintain calm. You want to find one that brings about positive emotions and thoughts and creates a sense of inner peace. Keep in mind that what works for your best friend may not be your ideal method. Peace and calm protect precious brain cells from unhealthy stressIn my clinical practice, I have tried a variety of methods, and have been exposed to many more (both traditional and alternative) through my medical background. In my opinion, none have come close to the "Emotional Freedom Technique," or EFT. EFT is a form of psychological acupressure that, while it may appear amazingly simple, can have positive effects in its ability to help reduce negative emotions while instilling positive ones. The theory behind EFT is that lightly tapping with your fingertips along a special sequence of energy points can activate your body's bioenergy within a few short minutes. The combination of positive mental focus on your identified concern and this physical stimulus to your body's biochemistry may help diminish your issue – be it stress, cravings, or emotional baggage– in a fast and expedient manner. Interestingly, these energy points are finally being recognized by mainstream America. According to the principles of EFT, No matter how devoted you are to perfecting your diet, exercise and lifestyle… you cannot expect to achieve optimal brain and total body health if emotional barriers stand in your way.

Who Owns and Runs EFT?

EFT Founder Gary Craig has given EFT to everyone. So EFT is YOURS! To insure that the gift of EFT continues to grow and evolve, a new era has begun for the EFT World.

Out of passion and love for the healing power of EFT, a group of EFT experts, Masters and highly qualified trainers, have created an alliance as the EFT Advisory Council. (see the impressive list of members below)

Our goal is to insure high-quality, affordable, standardized, EFT trainings and to help develop a new Masters program! Yay! Together, we represent YOU; newbies to EFT, as well as the up-and-coming practitioners and trainers. Because EFT belongs to YOU.

But rather than reinventing the wheel, we have aligned with an already well-established, global, EFT organization: AAMET (Association for the Advancement of Meridian Energy Techniques.) All of the members of the Advisory Council have joined and have been graciously grand-fathered into AAMET as practitioners or trainers. And you can be too! (Visit our site to find out how.)

To help pave the path to AAMET, we’ve developed a portal website, www.EFTUnited.com Our site and AAMET will help guide people along their experiential path through EFT.

Note: EFT United, the EFT Advisory Council, and AAMET are not associated with EFT Universe or Dawson Church.

On The EFT United site you can find:

•Answers to FAQs
•Links to AMMET for certification and more

Conscious Immunity

What comes to mind when you think about your immune system? Do you think about an army of special cells, proteins, tissues, and organs ready to go to battle to defend you from organisms and substances that invade your system and cause disease? Do you visualize little Pac-Men like creatures gobbling up all the little buggies?

How about cancer? Did just reading the word flame the fire of fear? Say these words out loud right now: "I have cancer."

How did your body react? Did your heart race? Face flush? Shoulders tense? Stomach tighten?

Though medical science has made some breakthroughs in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, many of us still think "DEATH" when the word is mentioned. An unfortunate fact that supports this thought is that many of us have had someone we love die of cancer. My nephew died of cancer just one month shy of his 14th birthday. It was indeed a tragic and traumatic loss for my family.

Sadly, one thing our health care system does not address adequately is the emotional factors of cancer and other dis-eases. I had one client who was in the doctors examining room, wearing nothing but a paper sheet, when she was given the diagnosis. No family in the room, feeling vulnerable and alone, with no one to physically, emotionally or spiritually support her. While driving home, reeling with thoughts of how she was going to tell her three children, she rear-ended a car at a stop light and severely injured her neck.

It just makes intuitive sense that a body experiencing fear, trauma, stress, and guilt is not in the best shape to heal anything. And though the medical community is well aware that emotional dis-ease set us up for physical dis-ease, traditional medicine does not address the emotional house as a part of the treatment plan. Mother Teresa once said she wouldn't march on a war against anything. Nothing is cured by war. But we often speak of "fighting cancer". I truly believe a body that is at peace with itself and infuses all its cells with love has a better chance of freeing itself of any dis-ease than a body at war with itself.

Though I am not a doctor, I consider myself a healer. In my experience, it matters not what symptoms or disease the body is presenting. Be it back pain, migraine headaches, fibromyalgia, low energy, chronic sinus infections, Parkinson’s Disease, depression, and even cancer, the body cannot effectively heal itself until the underlying toxic emotions that are trapped in the body’s subtle energy system is released. It’s also important to know that these low frequency emotions are mostly driven by limiting beliefs and fears of the subconscious mind.

The Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is the most effective and efficient way I have found to free these toxic emotions and reprogram the subconscious.
EFT is a universal healing modality that is easy enough for almost anybody to learn but is powerful enough to assist people with everything from debilitating phobias to serious health conditions. By using a gentle tapping procedure that engages the same energy system as acupuncture, EFT rapidly balances the body and eases the emotions.

Gary Craig, founder of EFT, feels that this indispensable method of dispelling negative emotions should be available to all and has made the method easily available on line at www.emofree.com.

Scientific studies are now emerging that supports what literally millions of people around the world have experienced: EFT, as well as other energy medicine modalities, moves the mind-body to a deeper level of peace, creating a more optimal climate for the functioning of the immune system.

Dawson Church, Ph.D., illuminates this research in his empowering book, The Genie in Your Genes. This book reports the findings of over 300 scientific studies that reveal why energy- and consciousness-based medicine will transform healthcare. Dr. Church deftly explains how genes are being turned on and off by beliefs, emotions and attitudes. I found this study particularly revealing:

“…researchers looked at people who were lonely and depressed, and compared the expression of their entire genome with a happier group. They found 209 genes that were differently expressed in the unhappy people. The nature of the affected genes is particularly interesting. They code for, amongst other things, markers of our levels of immunity from disease. So unhappy people had weakened immune systems and were more susceptible to illness.”

The book also chronicles how a patient altered the degree of clumping of her red blood cells (RBC) by using EFT. The patient’s doctor examined the live red blood cells using darkfield microscopy before and after the patient used EFT. Here’s what Dr. Church writes:

“Our dominant medical model does not believe that physiological processes such as red blood cell clumping are under the control of a patient’s conscious mind. [This] usually takes months of treatment, if it can be accomplished at all. Yet in just two rounds of EFT, lasting just a few minutes, were enough to produce an immediate and visible change in the degree of cell clumping.” (The pictures showing the change in the RBC was nothing short of miraculous!)

I am not suggesting that EFT should replace medical care. However, the research is illuminating that our psychology plays a definitive role in our physiology, and supports the theory that bodies free of toxic emotions and energy disruptions have enhanced immune function.

If you or a loved one is affected by cancer, you may be interested in an EFT support group. During each meeting a specific aspect of living with cancer will be addressed, including:
• Releasing the trauma of the diagnosis
• I feel guilty that I might have caused this cancer
• Who am I now that I have cancer?
• I hate chemotherapy!
• I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired!
• I'm ready to release the old toxic emotional junk

Coupled with individual EFT sessions, fears can subside, limiting beliefs and attitudes can change, emotional wounds and traumas can be repaired, so the body has a strong immune system and peaceful environment in which to heal. Top 5 Reasons People Fail to Achieve Their Goals

#5 - Lack of Support / Try to go it Alone: Without a team of support, or at least a cheering section, it’s very hard to achieve what you are aspiring to do or be. Having people to go to for advice, assistance, to talk things through with, or cheer you on when things get tough is almost essential to succeed at anything. Think about getting together an advisory committee, a personal coach, and/or a support group before undertaking a personal or business goal.

#4 - Giving up too soon:
Setting a reasonable time frame is an essential step to goal setting. However, if you don’t meet the time schedule, don’t give up! It may just mean it’s time to re-assess your strategy or revisit the motivation for achieving the goal in the first place. This is another reason to have support.

#3 – Lack of Focus:
As with giving up too soon, if you find yourself doing everything but the tasks necessary to achieve your goal, you may actually be lacking the desire and interest to obtain whatever the goal is providing you. Ask yourself, “Why do I want to achieve this? “What problem will this solve, or what will it provide me?” “Is there some other way of getting this need met?”

#2 – Self Sabotage:
Self sabotage is a term used to describe the things people either do or say, which ruins success or the happiness they may be experiencing in their life.

#1 – Limiting Beliefs

An important point to remember about self sabotage is that it is not something which is done consciously, but rather subconsciously from the subconscious mind. This means that even though you may want to achieve success and happiness, there are limiting beliefs you have acquired throughout your life (most commonly during childhood. You may subconsciously not believe you are worthy or deserving of obtaining success or happiness. Limiting beliefs in your subconscious mind can prevent you from achieving more than your beliefs think you are worth, stop you from achieving anything at all, or destroy something once you have achieved it. Therefore the beliefs you have in your subconscious mind act like a “success thermostat”. They will constantly regulate what you achieve, and make sure you always have what they think you are worthy of. Or as I often say, "What you believe on the inside you will create on the outside."

Don’t let self sabotaging behaviors caused by subconscious limiting beliefs stop you from obtaining what you want in your life. Talk to Forrest Samnik at (727) 781-6567 or visit www.LifeWorksWithEFT.com TODAY!

Bad habits more acceptable than tapping? Please weigh in on this!

Yesterday, I was talking to client who had a fear of public speaking. She was preparing to give a very important presentation to her boss which could potentially catapult her career. We were discussing ways she could tap under the table using EFT points on her fingers, hands and wrists just prior to speaking so she could remain calm and confident.

She said, “This is great! If anyone noticed it would just look like I had bad habit, like biting my nails or something.”

So what’s wrong with this picture?!? We live in a society where it’s more socially acceptable to have a bad habit than to publically apply a healing technique that is literally change lives for the better!?!

What can we, you and I, do to change this mindset? I want to hear from you today, so please pass on your ideas, thoughts, and comments.

January 20, 2010 - Tapping your way to confidence

Even though I don't want to feel safe and confident because this not my reality right now, I deeply and profoundly love and accept who I am in this moment. (repeat this 3 times)

I want to feel safe and confident
I don't feel safe and confident right now
How can I feel safe?
I don't remember what that feels like
I want to feel confident
But confidence means I have to go out in the world
And that is not safe
I don't want to feel rejected and be reminded that I don't belong

There's a part of me that wants to remember
But there's another part of me that's afraid to feel confident
I want both parts to win
I feel safe
No I don't
Yes I do
I want to release this fear so I can feel confident and safe
No I don't
Yes I do

I'm ready to move into the world
I'm ready to feel successful, powerful and free
I'm ready to feel good about myself again
I'm ready to release this fear so I can live again
I'm ready to fully embrace the confident part in myself
I give myself permission to let this fear go
I choose to feel safe and confident
I choose to feel successful, powerful and free

Tapping on Anger

Even though I don't want to let go of this anger, I deeply and completley love and respect who I am anyway.

Round 1 (while tuning into an event that triggered the anger:
All this anger
All this rage and anger
I feel betrayed
I am burning up with rage anger
This pain of betrayal
It's hard for me to let this go
I refuse to let this go and let them off the hook
It doesn't feel safe to let this anger go

Round 2:

All this anger
I'm afraid to let it go
All this rage and anger
What if I let it go and it happens again?
What if I release it and he/she gets away with what they did?
This anger protects me
So I can't let it go
I won't let it go and no one can make me!

Round 3:

Even though a part of me is still holding on to some of this anger, another part of me wants to be free of it, and I am pulling for each part.

Deep down in side I want to be free of this anger
I am ready to look at what I need to change
No I'm not
Yes I am
I am ready to feel free of this anger
No I'm not
Yes I am
I give myself permission to release this anger

Round 4:

Even though there's still a small part of me that wants to hold on to the anger, I allow myself to speak my truth and release the pattern in me that created this.

I choose to release this anger
It is not serving my higher good
I choose to look at a healthier way to protect myself
Deep down inside I know what I need to do
I allow myself to recognize my part in this
I'm ready to make the necessary change to release this pattern
I choose to be free
I choose freedom from this way of being

How Does EFT Work and How Can I Learn it?

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a universal healing modality that is easy enough for a school-aged child to learn but is powerful enough to assist people with everything from debilitating phobias to serious health conditions. By gently stimulating the body’s subtle energy system on specific tapping points of the head and upper body, EFT quickly clears the body of energy disruptions that cause physical and emotional dis-ease.

Gary Craig, the founder of EFT, has made this technique available to all by offering the EFT Manual free of charge through his website www.emofree.com. Over 1 million people worldwide have downloaded the instruction manual which is now translated in 14 languages.

EFT YouTube videos offers visual demonstrations which are a fun and effective way to learn EFT. EFT scripts are also available that can enhance your personal practice. I offer a monthly EFT Circle. This is a powerful venue for developing the art of EFT while being guided through the process in a safe and supportive environment. EFT Help for Veterans

All our Vets are on the forefront of my mind today - Veterans Day. So I want all of you who are suffering from post war trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, or addiction that there is no need to suffer.

There are so many individuals and organizations who are willing and able to offer their services free of charge. I not only offer free sessions, using the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), to any post-war vet, but I'm also a member of Give an Hour (giveanhour.org).

EFT has been clinically proven to collapse the underlying issues that support the symptoms of PTSD and most other conditions our Vets experience. Please check out the video titled "EFT for War Veterans" at http://emofree.com/freevideos.aspx.

I realize it's not easy to reach out for help. Please remember, when you suffer all who love you and support you suffer along with you. You committed your life for us; now allow us to give back to you.

With love and appreciation,
Forrest

Using EFT To Clean Your Mental House

Have you ever watched a newborn baby? Did you notice that they don’t hold anything back? When they need something, they are not afraid to let the whole world know. When they’re happy, their giggles and smiles light up an entire room. They explore their world in amazement and wonder, without fear or shame. The perfection of babies is evident to all…including themselves. They know they are the epicenter of the universe.

As a baby you too knew you were perfect just as you are. So what happened? How did you go from being more than content to being you, to being too tall, too short, too old, too fat, too ugly, too dumb?

As we began to listen to the adults around us, who had learned to be fearful, we began to question and then ultimately deny our perfection. When we are very young, our very survival demands that we trust those that are responsible for our well being. What our caregivers said and did, we accepted as truth.

When we are born, our internal walls are like a brilliant white canvas on which we can create our masterpiece of our life. The problem is, a whole bunch of other people come and write all over our walls! Some of what they write is totally necessary, like “look both ways before you cross the street”. But much of what they write is their own junk! As children, and the epicenter of the universe, we see ourselves as the cause and effect of most everything. So, when our parents argue, for example, we see ourselves as the source of their fights, perhaps giving us the impression that we are bad or we can’t do anything right. When we are told “you can’t do that”, “you talk too much”, “you don’t really feel that way” we take our caregivers literally and come to believe what they say about us to be true.

As we grow and begin to have our own experiences in the world, we consult the writing on our walls to provide meaning and understanding of these experiences and how they relate to us. We formulate our beliefs about ourselves and the world from all that is written on our walls. These beliefs become our operating system; the way to respond to the world. Our perceptions are always in alignment with our beliefs. Hence, our beliefs become our reality.

Thus, if you believe, “People are loving and helpful”, because that’s part of the writing on your wall, you will create that experience. However, if your writing led you to believe, “People are always out to get me”, you will create a much different experience.

If there is writing on your walls that is not creating the life you desire to live, you may want to erase what’s currently written so new beliefs can take hold. A new reality will soon take shape. There is no law that states you can’t change what you currently believe.

The Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a highly effective method of upgrading your belief system. For simple instructions visit: http://www.lifeworkswitheft.com/eft_basic_recipe.pdf.

Why Should I Forgive You?

It's practically impossible to go through life without being hurt by somebody. Most of us humans have a hard time letting go of such injuries and carry these scars of pain, resentment and anger with us for months, years, or even a lifetime.

Forgiveness can be a difficult concept to understand. I often hear, "If I forgive her, then she got away with what they did". Or, “Forgiving him would mean I accept what he did to me.” My response to this: “So, not to forgive is like taking the poison (continuing to suffer for what they did or didn’t do to you) and expecting them to die!”

In reality, forgiveness is not letting the person of the hook for what they did or didn’t do, it’s releasing the barbed hook that continues to cause you pain and suffering so your wound can heal. Forgiveness is one of the greatest acts of self love you can do.

Think about it…Anger, resentment and pain take a lot of energy. When there’s more energy going out than coming in, you are operating from an energy deficit. This sets you up for depression, disease, and/or chronic physical pain. If you are continuing to harbor “ill feelings” towards someone, who are you really hurting? YOU! So, I ask you, is this person worth all this energy you continue to give them?

Now you might be asking, “OK, I understand that forgiveness is something I do for me and my own healing, but how do I go about forgiving someone if all if feel is anger and pain when I think about this person? The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a perfect tool to use to get you to a place of forgiveness.

EFT can collapse the energy disruptions that trigger the emotional toxins when tuned into the hurtful event. When you no longer feel angry and resentful, you can gain objectivity and emotional distance from the event. This clarity will often lead you to a new perspective. Mostly pain begets pain. Whenever you have been the one who has been the source of pain for someone else, it is because you were in pain, right? When you recognize the person who hurt you must have been hurting terribly themselves, forgiveness comes much easier.

The Secret Behind "The Secret"

Since the movie "The Secret" came out, the Law of Attraction has been receiving a lot of attention. Mostly what I hear is "The Law of Attraction doesn't work for me."

A simplified definition of The Law of Attraction (LOA) is: “We attract from the outside what we resonate with on the inside.” We are constantly creating our reality. This is quite a scary thought to some - this concept that we are personally attracting what is showing up in our lives. Scary or not, we are powerful beyond measure. If we have the power to attract poverty, we have the power to attract abundance. If we have the power to attract conflict, we have the power to attract peace. The secret behind "The Secret" is congruence.

How the LOA really works, contrary to the positive thinking movement, is that we attract what we believe (not necessarily what we think). If your head is thinking "I want a million dollars", but your gut is believes "Rich people are selfish, and I'm not selfish," your head and your gut are not congruent. If your head is thinking, "I really want to lose weight", but your gut believes "I won't be safe if I lose weight", your gut will win out in the long run. When we have yes/buts about what we want, the BUT wins out every time. Remember, a but always negates what comes before it. Yes/buts indicate our mind, body, and spirit are not in alignment.

The most powerful evidence that a yes/but exists is self sabotage. If you've ever lost weight only to gain it back and then some, you have a yes/but about being thin. If you have ever received a large sum of money and then lost it with nothing to show for it, you have a yes/but about prosperity (this is why most lottery winners are broke in a relatively short period of time). If you have been in a wildly happy relationship but you believe all men are pigs or all women are money grubbers, you will sabotage the relationship to be in alignment with your belief.

In order to use the LOA consciously and effectively, discovering your unconscious beliefs that are driving your reality is a must. One way of becoming conscious of your yes/buts is to state what you want out loud and then listen to your self-talk about why you can't, or it isn't safe to obtain it. Here are some examples:

YES! I want to make more money BUT...
(Example: If I make too much money my friends will treat me differently.)

YES! I want to lose weight BUT...
(Example: I will get too much attention and that will make me nervous.)

YES! I want to improve my relationship BUT...
(Example: If I'm honest, he/she will leave me.)

YES! I want to expand my business BUT...
(Example: If I don't succeed I will be a failure.)

YES! I want to be in a relationship BUT...
(Example: My heart will get broken again.)

YES! I want a promotion BUT...
(Example: My coworkers will reject me.)

The next step is to apply EFT on your limiting beliefs. An example set-up phrase would be, "Even though I believe being successful means having to work hard, and I don't want to work that hard, I deeply and completely love and accept myself."

There are many nuances to using the LOA consciously and effectively. If you are ready to attract something particular in your life and can't wait to get started, you are welcome to contact me for a free 1/2 hour consultation at (727) 781-6567.

Using EFT to Clear Financial Fears

Though the media and perhaps even your investment or bank accounts may tell you otherwise, it IS possible to maintain your sense of well-being and feelings of abundance. For most, however, the constant messages of doom and gloom are creating anxiety, fear, and even panic.
The problem with fear is, all the energy is being shunted away from the problem solving part of the brain to the more primitive back part of the brain. Fear and anxiety put you are in fight or flight mode. This response is really important if you are facing a physical threat like a Bengal Tiger, but unless you’re going to duke it out with AIG or Bernie Madoff, your energy would be better placed elsewhere.
Done correctly, the Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), will quickly and efficiently clear the fear. This frees you to be logical, lucid and creative. These are the ingredients for success, no matter what is presenting as a perceived crises.
Besides tapping on the current fear and anxiety, I suggest you also assess your beliefs and personal relationship with money. There may be some old junk that needs be cleared to make room for greater financial abundance.

Eckhart Tolle’s Bridge to EFT

Having just finished Eckhart Tolle’s, A New Earth, I am feeling exhilarated. Imagine! A New York Times best seller that describes and explains how and why the Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) works! Obviously, that wasn’t the point of the book. I don’t know if Mr. Tolle is currently aware of the effectiveness of EFT and how it is transforming the lives of millions of people all over the world. I am quite sure, however, if he had been aware at the time of his writing, he would have instructed his readers in at least the basic technique.

Tolle’s answer to how to break free of the “pain-body” has spiritual merit. He states that the pain-body (i.e., the accumulation of emotional pain carried in a person’s energy field) does not cause the suffering that we inflict on ourselves and others, but the identification we have with it. He reports that once we know that the toxic emotions we are feeling is the pain-body in us, this knowing is all we need to break from our identification with it.

I agree that in separating our authentic selves from our ego created thought of self, we become conscious and thus awaken from our illusion of suffering. And, I’m not saying we shouldn’t strive to live our lives in consciousness. I’m saying we can rise above our “pain-body” by becoming conscious of our egoic thoughts and subsequent pain-body response through EFT. It’s another means through which to meet the same end…Emotional Freedom.

What Tolle has provided those of us who practice EFT is a wide spread education as to the interactive relationship between our thoughts and our energy system and how this relationship creates our toxic emotions and our subsequent discontent. It offers us a conceptual framework and language that is now understood by the many who have read his book.

For example, Tolle writes:

“What is a negative emotion? An emotion that is toxic to the body and interferes with its balance and harmonious functioning. Fear, anxiety, anger, bearing a grudge, sadness, hatred or intense dislike, jealousy, envy—all disrupt the energy flow through the body, affect the heart, the immune system, digestion, production of hormones, and so on.”

Though Tolle contends that the emotion creates the disruption of the energy flow and Gary Craig contends in his Discovery Statement that “The cause of all negative emotion is a disruption in the body’s energy system”, I say mox nix. The important concept here is that by restoring the flow of energy, the toxic emotions are freed.

My experience is that many of my clients are reticent to “focus on the negative” when developing the “setup statement.” I often hear, “Why do I verbalize the issue I’m trying to get rid of? Doesn’t thinking about it make it stronger?” This is an unfortunate backlash, in my opinion, to the positive thinking movement.

Tolle deftly explains why it is important to tune into the thought, memory, or belief that signals the energy disruption and accept this state without judgment. He states:

“The remnant of pain left behind by every strong negative emotion that is not full faced, accepted, and then let go of join together to form an energy field that lives in the very cells of your body. You can’t argue with what is. Well you can, but if you do, you suffer. Accepting [what you feel] means you allow yourself to feel whatever it is you are feeling at the moment.”

Now, during the initial consultation with a prospective client, I ask if they have read A New Earth. Many have either read it, watched the interview series Oprah had with Tolle and/or listened to the taped podcasts of this series. For those who have been exposed to A New Earth, it easily serves as a reference point to introduce EFT and the concepts of energy disruptions as the source of emotional dis-ease. This bridge has greatly reduced the initial apprehension to engage in EFT.

Thank you, Eckhart Tolle, for bringing the paradigm of energy disruptions as the cause of emotional pain into the mainstream. Oh, and thank you too, Oprah!
