The Master and Mommy: Raising Utah February 22, 2010

February 22, 2010

My grandson is being born today. My son just called to say Jaynee is in active labor and we should have a baby sometime this evening. It's hard to believe my Mom died exactly one week ago. The circle of life has never been more apparent to me than now. I wonder if these two souls are meeting in the middle of the matrix as they take their journey to opposite poles of existence.

As I'm scurrying around to get chores done prior to the call to come meet our newest family member, an utter surprise is being delivered. My husband comes through the door and instead of his usual "Hellooooo" I hear, "Honey, remember when you said the only time we could have another dog is if God delivers one to our doorstep?"

I hear him, but I'm not processing the question. I turn the corner into the kitchen and there curled up in his arms is a brown fur ball with big hazel eyes looking cold and scared.

Joe tells me he spied the little thing while coming down our driveway - cuddled up under a tree. It's cold by Florida standards today. Joe gets out of the car and calls to him. The puppy trots right over to him. About the same time, Joe sees a big dog from the other side of the fence racing towards him. Not taking any chances with what just might be a highly protective mama dog, Joe runs into the garage and hops up onto my car. Upon closer inspection, this older dog doesn't look like like a mom, in fact the sex of the dog would make it impossible. So Joe closes the garage door and enters the house.

When I take the puppy into my arms, it's like instant love as my nurturing instincts turn into high gear. I set the puppy down to get a good look. He has no collar or tag, he's definitely a boy, he's cute as a button and as sweet as a Hershey's Kiss and the same color too. Joe thinks he has pit bull in him. He looks all lab to me.

The conversation moves to what do with the little guy. Joe says, "Well, if he does have pit bull in him, we can't keep him! I wouldn't feel safe having him around the baby." I lift my eyes off my new found love and reply, "You better make your mind up fast cause I'm bonding with this little dude!"

Of course there's the ethics of just keeping him. Joe and I talk about situational ethics all the time. The ethical thing to do is put an ad in the paper and call the local Animal Lost and Found hotline. I ask, "When should we do this?" Joe says, "When we get back from Utah".

"UTAH!!! That's what we should call him!", I proclaim. And Utah he is.

We decided to keep our eyes combed for lost puppy ads. So much for situational ethics.

What a day!! It turns out our grandson is in no hurry to make his debut. By the time he is born, both Mom and Dad are exhausted and asked that we wait to come in the morning. So, Joe and I take Utah to the local pet store for some essentials.

I'll keep you posted on our new family that grew by 2 in one day.

You're Invited to be the Creator of your Experience.

As Maryanne Williamson says, "We are powerful beyond measure".

So if we have the power to create chaos, don't we also have the power to create peace and calm? If we have the power to create poverty, don't we also have the power to create abundance? Is it also in our power to create health if we in deed have the power to create illness?

If this concept is upsetting to you, I suggest you try the following EFT tapping sequence.

ROUND ONE

Setup:
Even though I believe life happens to me not through me, I deeply and profoundly accept who I am. Even though I believe my reality is out of my control, I deeply and completely accept this belief in this moment. Even though I believe my experience is beyond my control, I deeply and profoundly accept who I am in this moment.

Tapping Sequence

This belief that life is out of my control
This belief that I am not in control of my circumstance
This belief that I do not have the power to change my circumstance
This belief that I have no control over my life
This belief that I am powerless to change my life's circumstances
It's rediculous to belive that I have control over my life
I refuse to believe I have created this mess
It's not my fault!!!!

ROUND TWO

Setup (change "anger" to fit your own emotion if appropriate)

Even though I'm angry that people think I'm responsible for my life, I love and accept myself and this anger. Even though I feel angry when people intimate that I've created this mess, I deeply and profoundly accept who I am. Even though I get really ticked off when people think I chose to live this way, I deeply and completely love and accept how I feel.

Tapping Sequence

The gall of these people
Who do they think they are?
I do not choose to live like this!
I did not consciously create this circumstances!!
I'm angry that they think I did this to myself!
I'm really angry!!
I don't want all this chaos (debt, stress, pain, worry...)
I did not choose all this!!

ROUND 3

Setup

Even though I don't believe I'm in control, I choose to be open to a new reality. Even though I don't believe I can do anything to change my circumstances, I choose to be open to the possibility of a new reality. Even though I didn't consciously create this current situation, I choose to be open to the possibility of a new reality.

Tapping Sequence (this is 4 rounds)

I don't believe I have the power to change my circumstance
It is not my fault
I want things to change but I don't know how
If I knew what to do to change things I would
It's scary to think I have the power to change
What would I have to give up?
There's something that's keeping me rooted in this situation
It's too hard to change

I'm afraid to look at what I need to do
I choose open to the possibility that I can do it
There's so many things working against me
I choose to be open that this can happen for me
I'm afraid if I change things someone will be mad at me
I choose to be open that change happens easily and effortlessly
I don't know what to do!
I choose to know the answers are readily available to me

I choose to be open to the possibility of a new reality
I choose to know this can happen for me
I choose to envision what I really want for myself
I choose to see a new reality as a possibility
I choose to recognize I am worth getting what I want from life
I choose for this new reality to come easily and effortlessly
I choose to focus on what I want and let the rest go
I choose to see this new reality coming forth

Where to go from Here

Ask yourself what would be downside to giving up your current reality. Would someone important to you be upset if things changed for you? Would you be giving something up? Would it feel safe to have things change? What would you be missing if things changed? These are all tappable issues.

Ask yourself if you are worthy of having the life you want. If not, why not? Tap on all the reasons you do not feel worthy of having what you want.

Still stuck? Consider working with a Certified EFT Practitioner.

Bad habits more acceptable than tapping? Please weigh in on this!

Yesterday, I was talking to client who had a fear of public speaking. She was preparing to give a very important presentation to her boss which could potentially catapult her career. We were discussing ways she could tap under the table using EFT points on her fingers, hands and wrists just prior to speaking so she could remain calm and confident.

She said, “This is great! If anyone noticed it would just look like I had bad habit, like biting my nails or something.”

So what’s wrong with this picture?!? We live in a society where it’s more socially acceptable to have a bad habit than to publically apply a healing technique that is literally change lives for the better!?!

What can we, you and I, do to change this mindset? I want to hear from you today, so please pass on your ideas, thoughts, and comments.

Today’s Tapping Script: Feeling Overwhelmed

For basic EFT instructions, log onto www.lifeworkswitheft.com/pdf/eft_short_cut_method.pdf.

A diagram of tapping points can be found at http://lifeworkswitheft.com/tapping_points.htm.

Round 1:

Setup: Even though I’m feeling totally overwhelmed with all I have to do today, I deeply and completely accept who I am anyway. Even though there’s too much to do and not enough time to do it, I deeply and completely love and accept myself. Even though I don’t know how I’m going to get it all done and I just feel like giving up, I deeply and completely accept how I’m feeling in this moment.

Tapping Sequence:
I feel totally overwhelmed.
There’s way too much to be done.
I’m stressed and I haven’t even gotten started yet.
I just want to go back to bed and give up.
There’s just too much to do.
There’s no time for me.
No one should expect me to do all this is.
It’s just not fair!

Round 2:

Setup: Even though I feel resentful that I have to do all this today, I deeply and profoundly love and accept myself. Even though I’m angry and resentful that I’m expected to do all this work, I deeply and profoundly accept how I feel. Even though I’m angry and resentful that no one even appreciates all that I do, I deeply and profoundly, appreciate all that I am.

Tapping Sequence:
This anger and resentment;
All this anger and resentment that there’s too much to do
They don’t understand that this is impossible to get done;
And they don’t even acknowledge all my hard work;
Why do I even bother?
They really take me for granted;
I’m really angry that they don’t appreciate all that I do;
I’m resentful that they just expect me to get it done.

Round 3

Setup: Even though I may have taken on too much because it’s hard to say no, I deeply and completely love and accept myself. Even though I want to please everyone instead of taking care of me, I respect who I am anyway. Even though I’m afraid I’ll be rejected if I say no, I love and accept who I am.

Tapping Sequence
It’s hard for me to say “no” to people
What if they get angry at me?
Or reject me?
I wonder where this fear of saying “no” comes from?
Was I allowed to say “no” as a child?
Was I praised in the past for taking on more than I could safely manage?
For some reason it doesn’t feel safe to say “no”.
I choose to give myself permission to say “no”.
